What a carbon conscious event is
A carbon conscious event is any event — conference, awards ceremony, networking evening, office party, or international gathering — where the associated greenhouse gas emissions are captured, calculated, and formally reported. You receive a baseline emissions report showing the full footprint of the event. You can then choose to offset those emissions using certified carbon credits to achieve a carbon neutral event. This approach is increasingly the standard practice for responsible organisations. It demonstrates environmental accountability to guests, clients, sponsors, and the wider public — and provides verified evidence of your commitment to sustainability.NCZ has measured events ranging from small office parties to large international award ceremonies, including the 2024 Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai in conjunction with the Dubai Sports Council, a COP28 Fringe Event, CBRE supplier events and ESG Innovation Challenges, SPG-Group’s Golf Networking Series, and Linakerfest.

NCZ Silver Carbon Conscious Event Award
The Silver award is a show of intent. Before your event takes place, you answer a simple questionnaire that allows NCZ to predict your event’s emissions using benchmark data from similar events.Included:- Complete a short event questionnaire
- NCZ models your predicted Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions using benchmark data
- Receive the NCZ Silver Award for event carbon awareness
How to set up a carbon conscious event
1
Create your event on the NCZ platform
Log in to the NCZ Portal and set up a new event record. Enter the event name, date, location, expected attendance, and venue details. This gives the platform the context it needs to scope the correct emission sources.
2
Work with your Customer Success Team to capture emissions
Your NCZ Customer Success Team will guide you through the data collection process. Emissions sources covered include:
- Food and beverage (F&B) — catering, drinks, and hospitality
- Contractors — on-site suppliers and service providers
- Purchased goods and services (PG&S) — hired equipment, printed materials, décor
- Venue — energy consumption, heating, cooling, and waste
3
Share the attendee travel link
The platform generates a unique link you can share with all attendees before or after the event. Attendees complete a short form about how they travelled to the event (mode of transport, distance, or postcode). This data feeds directly into the event’s Scope 3 emissions calculation, giving you a complete picture of delegate travel without any manual data entry on your part.
4
Receive your emissions report
After the event, your Customer Success Team reviews and finalises the data. You receive a baseline emissions report showing the full footprint of the event, broken down by source category.
5
Choose to offset the emissions (optional)
If you want to achieve a carbon neutral event, NCZ can retire certified carbon credits on your behalf to balance the total emissions figure. You receive documentation confirming the offset, which you can share with attendees, sponsors, and stakeholders.
The attendee travel link is a powerful feature. Rather than estimating average travel distances, it captures actual journey data from each attendee — making your Scope 3 travel figure far more accurate than a benchmark estimate. Share it in your event confirmation email or post-event communication.
What you receive
At the end of the process, you receive:- A baseline emissions report for the event, covering all measured sources
- A breakdown by scope and emission category
- Recommendations to reduce the footprint at future similar events
- If credits are retired: a carbon neutral certificate and supporting documentation
- Your NCZ event certification (Silver, Gold, or Platinum) and associated media assets
